At the Bergrechnung on 7 June, farmers negotiate the remaining cattle grazing rights for the forthcoming Alpine summer. There's also plenty to see in the way of folklore and local traditions at this late spring market in Adelboden.
The Alpaufzug up to Engstligenalp takes place around the end of June. Led by experienced herdsmen, over 500 cattle undertake the steep and rocky ascent (over 500 vertical metres) to the high-Alpine plateau on Engstligenalp. The exact date of Alpaufzug is highly dependent on good weather so the provisional date will only be announced at Bergrechnung.
After a break of several years, the Vogellisi Festival is making a comeback over the weekend of 5/6 July. High calibre Swiss musicians will be taking to the stage against a majestic Wildstrubel backdrop.
At the 7th Adelboden Street Artiste Festival on 20 July, Dorfstrasse - the heart of Adelboden - will be alive with stage and street performers to delight guests with clever tricks and a good dose of humour.
For the 10th Vogellisi Mountain Run on 21 July, runners and Nordic walkers will once again cover a picturesque route taking them from Adelboden up to SillerenbĂĽhl - a vertical distance of over 800 metres. In golf is your passion, then you shouldn't miss a round or two on the Engstligenalp Golf Mountain course.
From 7 September - 20 October 2013, professionals and amateurs alike can practise and enjoy five weeks of golf of the highest 18-hole pop-up golf course in Europe, 2000m above sea level.
Chamber music in the mountains from 14 -29 September at the Swiss Chamber Music Festival Adelboden. Guests and locals can enjoy internationally-renowned chamber orchestras and ensembles as well as up and coming talent from the ORPHEUS music competition.
